It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the Limpsfield Royal British Legion’s long-standing former President, Jim Harris, following a short illness.

Jim dedicated more than 65 years of service to the Royal British Legion, proudly representing the organisation as an outstanding Standard Bearer.

Inside St Paul’s Cathedral, Sir Christopher Wren’s memorial bears the inscription: “If you seek his monument, look around you.” The same could be said of Jim’s legacy at Limpsfield Royal British Legion.

A highly skilled woodturner and joiner, Jim devoted countless hours to the Legion, handcrafting the bar and the ever-popular skittle alley. His craftsmanship, generosity and unwavering commitment have left a lasting legacy that will continue to be enjoyed for many years to come.

Jim will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at St Bartholomew’s Church, Burstow, on Wednesday 22 July 2026 at 1.30pm.
